We were a sponsor with the Brattleboro Film Festival of a screening of the Cuban film “Conducta,”  Nov. 7, 2015 at 6:30 pm at the Latchis Theater.

Set in Havana, “Conducta” is a touching drama about the relationship between a troubled schoolboy named Chala and his dedicated teacher. Chala raises pigeons and cares for fighting dogs to sustain himself and his mother, who struggles with addiction. A sensitive examination of the Cuban education system, children living in poverty, and educators who consistently go the extra mile. Jayaraj Acharya is a Nepalese scholar, educator and former diplomat. He served as Nepal’s ambassador to the United Nations form 1991-94 and was a political adviser to the late Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala. He has a Ph.D. in linguistics from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. and was trained in classical Sanskrit. He is now the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Takshashila Academy in Katmandu.
